This post is going to be about a man I’ve come to admire; Manjit Singh the Iron Lion. He’s been given a few names in addition to The Iron Lion of Leicester England, such as Iron Man, but I like Iron Lion the best.

Manjit has set at least 25 world records with his vast feats of physical ability. Most of them center around pure stamina, but there are some strength ones too. They are partially listed on his website.

These feats demonstrate that not only does he have great strength and durability, but that he also has vast lung power, stamina, and speed.

Youtube is littered with videos of his feats and accomplishments. His records regarding lung power are what initially caught my eye about him after I wrote my post on Heavy Breathers and are, excuse the pun, breathtaking.

There are several other good things I have to say about him as well. His physical shape is extraordinary, but generally so as he does feats from all different categories. He’s not just a big, slow, cumbersome, muscle-freak, nor is he a skinny little wisp of a person. He’s virtually tireless, maintaining peak performance levels long after others would have slowed to a stop.

While I haven’t been able to find a chart detailing his training, it doesn’t seem to be too physically intense, as his website says he does a lot of Meditation, Prayer, and Yoga in addition to weight lifting. I’d also like to get a peek at his lunch-box and find out what his diet consists of.

Having there be a man able to achieve this level of physical accomplishment is truly an example of what we could all achieve with dedication. My hat goes off to him.
