Hello, my name is Brenda and welcome to my first post on Digital Scryer. As we cover alternative medicine, I thought this anecdote about curing “Jock Itch” was relevant as my husband somehow contracted a yeast infection in his nether region.
You’re probably laughing, “What does a gal know about this?”. I’ll tell you; as a woman who loves her hubby, I am suffering right along with him. The proper name for jock itch/yeast infection is
Tinea Cruris.
When the symptoms first appeared, the ingrained western civilization response is go to the Doctor, so off we went. The smirking male Doctor said “Yeah you’ve got jock itch, (AKA yeast infection) take this cream and see you later” very reminiscent of “Take two aspirins and call me in the morning.”
He then went on to say “You need to keep the area dry.” We, my hubby and I, shared one of those looks that couples who have been together for a long time share. Our look was caught by the Doc who said he understood that it would be difficult, especially in this hot weather. If we couldn’t get it dry with a towel, then use a blow dryer down there. I know, “insert jokes here”.
The cream had a minor impact on the yeast infection rash, and after 12 days it was still bad and uncomfortable with no relief forthcoming. We had to try something else, so off to the net we went for hours of research. As many of you know, when searching the net it’s common to get a snippet of info, then a request from 20-100 dollars for the good stuff.
After reading multiple adds, we finally decided we needed to choose one if it was going to helpcure his yeast infection, we caved. There were many factors that affected our decision to select the one we did.
For starters the one we chose was an all natural remedy for yeast infection. The testimonies were positive and said relief in a few hours, and the author was Canadian. Logically that shouldn’t have had an impact, but buying is usually emotionally based and I am Canadian (shrug). We parted with our $29.95 and bought the e-book. Http://fixjockitch.com
To paraphrase the first thing I read inside “I have a sore behind I don’t want to SIT here and read seven chapters!” and the author’s response was “Read pages 37-39 and chapter 1&2?, this took about 5 minutes and we had the information we needed so badly to start curing his yeast infection.
Anyway, we went shopping and bought all the ingredients, which tallied up to just under $40. I’m not going to list them here, because that would be both unfair to everyone who already bought the book, and to the authors who wrote it.
One thing I will say however, is that one of the ingredients needs to be diluted, which the book doesn’t mention so read your labels carefully as you don’t want MORE skin irritation.
When we got it all home we commiserated at first what would be the first steps and how to actually apply it.
After deciding to experiment a bit, we ended up putting varying amounts of the ingredients in different spots to see how each would do. One of the spots began to itch so we cooled it with the blow dryer (Good ole’ blow dryer).
This may have been reinventing the wheel, as I believe the authors probably did all this to determine the efficacy of the ingredients, but call me stubborn, I like to see things for myself.
Within a half hour one of the spots started to itch, but the rest were still unchanged.
After a couple hours my hubby said it wasn’t as uncomfortable, though this may have been wishful thinking, and we decided to give it a couple days to check for real progress. A few hours later though, the areas at the tops of his legs were less red and gotten slightly smaller.
If you want to test this for yourself, outline your rash/redness with a marker or pen before you begin treatment, that way you have a means of checking to see if anything’s happening.
A day later the spots at the tops of my hubby’s legs were improved, but he started breaking out elsewhere on his body, we were growing concerned that this had turned into a systemic yeast infection.
Another trip to the Doctor, he told us that our treatment was good but the infection had already spread and become a little rampant and he wanted to hit it harder.
He prescribed 2 kinds of antibiotics and another type of cream. He did comment though on how if we’d have started our treatment at the first sign, then he wouldn’t have needed to prescribe drugs. The authors of the book mention this, that sometimes the yeast infection isn’t caught early enough, or gets out of hand and you need serious intervention.
Once I had the book, I started researching the ingredients. There were many resources supporting their effectiveness at fighting jock itch and related problems. This gave me more faith in the book because it had solid proof to back its claims. Http://fixjockitch.com
Here are some links to CNN and MSN about processed anti fungal creams for yeast infections.
These links give good advice on environment, like no tight clothes and no sharing towels, but they encourage over the counter stuff instead of finding a natural alternative to cure your yeast infection.
The book also says you shouldn’t use any article of clothing more than once, including towels and facecloths. It also has a guide on when to call it quits and seek medical intervention, as well as practical information on dealing with yeast infections using dietary changes.
There is a lot more information in the book, including how yeast infections can affect women and babies, and and how yeast infection is spread by contact. It could end up affecting your whole family. Definitely worth the read.
All in all I think I got good value for the money I spent. To get your copy, go here:
